Kentucky should know by this weekend whether it will add New Jersey Player of the Year Dan Werner to this year's basketball recruiting haul.

Werner, a 6-foot-8 forward with perimeter skills, has made UK one of his four final college choices. The other three are Florida, Pittsburgh and Rutgers.

Schools eliminated from Werner's list were North Carolina State, Seton Hall, Notre Dame and St. Joseph's.

Werner originally signed with N.C. State. After Coach Herb Sendek left the school this spring, the player decided to re-open his recruitment.

To think about his college choice, Werner planned to get away with his family the rest of this week, said Ed Wicelinski, who coached the player at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, N.J.

Werner, rated No. 84 nationally by Prep Stars recruiting service's most recent analysis, would seem to fill the need at forward that UK has tried repeatedly to fill. Earlier this recruiting year, the Cats pursued such forwards as Brandan Wright, Thaddeus Young, Deon Thompson, Darrell Arthur and Damion James.

Werner scored about 1,400 points and grabbed 800 rebounds in his high school career, Wicelinski said.
Good to hear for wildcat basektball!
Lets hope.
Yeah..HOPE AND PRAY..I mean..to see a future of scoring a BIG SOLID 11 points a game and grabbing 6 rebounds..How do players say no to an opportunity like that, lol..I am kidding..Really would be a GREAT fit at U.K. and seems like there type of player!
Good luck Cats...
