CLASS A
Fairview vs. Mayfield
Kickoff: Noon (EST) Friday
Cantrall ratings: Fairview 59.2, Mayfield 80.2

History lesson: Mayfield has won eight state titles and been runner-up nine times, including last year's 24-6 loss to Hazard.
Fairview hadn't advanced past the third round until this year.

Remember the Bulldogs: Fairview Coach Nathan McPeek knows Mayfield is a big favorite, but he remembers sitting in L.T. Smith Stadium last year when Mayfield was a big favorite to beat Hazard.

"Everybody was talking about how Mayfield was going to win by 20 or 30 points. Nobody was saying Hazard."

But the Bulldogs pulled the upset. "I believe in our kids. They're going to fight for the championship," McPeek said.

Fairview leaders: The Eagles have rushed for a state-record 5,830 yards, led by Devon Turner (1,520), Chris Brewer (1,505) and Elijah King (1,331).
Alex Roy runs the show, and has thrown for 616 yards and six TDs. Mason Rutherford has 22 catches for 567 yards and six TDs.

Fairvew averages 48.5 points a game, and gives up only 13.6.

Mayfield leaders: The Cardinals have a more wide-open attack this season, led by QB Jake Guhy's 2,697 passing yards and 32 TDs. Jordan Brown has 69 catches, 1,138 yards and 14 TDs.

Jonathan Jackson has run for 1,951 yards and 33 TDs. Jackson is also Mayfield's defensive star.

Key to victory: Fairview must be able to do what it does best — run the ball — against a strong and athletic Mayfield defense.

Thing is Mayfield remembers the Bulldogs too. Not taking anything for granted and more importantly not banged up this year!! In fact take a page out of last year Hazard game plan take away the run make a young qb beat us. That game plan resulted in 5ints last year.
