Rowan traveled to Breathitt Co on Saturday for a scrimmage. Rowan county did not come out shooting the ball very well at the beginning of the game and never led. Breathitt Co did shoot the ball very well and have some heighth on the perimeter.

Trevor Newsome shot the ball well and Tyler Thacker had a solid game except for the fact he missed 6 free throws. Matt Brown was 2-2 from the field. Rowan just does not look to him enough in the post. Rowan gets lulled into shooting the 3s when they could take advantage of their heighth inside. Josh Benard needs to get some reciever gloves so he can catch the ball. Too many balls go right through his hands.

Rowan's biggest hurdle this year will be the players coming off the bench. Justin Graham, Ryne Callahan, and Issac Lee are sub par at best. Callahan is getting a Mason's ring for all the bricks he puts up. Graham's turnovers out weigh any scoring he might due and Lee just runs around the court.

It will be a tough year at Rowan. After Saturday, the predictions may be that Rowan will be a .500 team and may even loose to Bath County. WOW

Decent run down of Rowan County...except their bench has very little varsity experience. As they play at the varsity level the game will slow down for them. In the JV game on that day Callahan hit 4 of 5 3's...looked good...and Graham didn't turn it over. They need to grow up quick to help this team succeed.
They very little experience at the High School level. They need to play many quarters at the JV level and then play Varsity.

Graham tries to do too much when playing varsity. If he would let the game come to him and play within his abilities, he would be an asset of the team.

Callahan needs to learn that if it is not your night shooting the 3, then it is your night to make assists and foul shots. He just has trouble getting away from defenders and creating his shots.

You are right the varsity game is much faster and yes they need to grow up.
