RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team will look to get back to its winning ways this Saturday in the 2012 Homecoming game against Austin Peay. Kick-off at Roy Kidd Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m.

No. 23 Eastern Kentucky (4-2, 2-1 OVC) is glad to be back to the friendly confines of Roy Kidd Stadium after spending three of the past four weekends on the road. The Colonels are 15-2 in home OVC games under head coach Dean Hood and have not lost to the Governors (0-6, 0-4) in Richmond since 1977. However, Austin Peay has won two of the last three meetings including a 23-17 victory in Clarksville last year.

Seniors Matt Denham and Tyrone Goard are both quickly moving up the career charts in EKU rushing and receiving history. Denham, a 2012 Walter Payton Award candidate, needs 178 yards rushing to move into EKU’s career top-10 rushing list. He has reached 100 yards rushing in 12 of the last 14 games.

Goard is only 96 yards away from cracking the EKU career top-10 receiving list. The 6-4 receiver set a personal high with seven receptions last year at Austin Peay. Currently sitting in 10th place on this list is Eastern running backs coach John Revere (1972-75), who finished his Colonel career with 1,503 receiving yards.

Austin Peay has dropped nine straight conference games dating back to last year. Last week, wide receiver Devin Stark posted career highs in receptions (10) and receiving yards (125) in the 52-14 loss to Murray State. Also, running back Reco Williams stepped in to finish with 110 yards on 21 carries. One of Austin Peay’s best defensive players, safety Antwaun Majors, is out for the year with a torn ACL.

Autin Peay gets pee'd on.
I think the Colonels are still smarting from last week and assassinate the Governors 42-7.
