BGR continues to try and be the fore-runner for High School Football Discussion throughout the State of Kentucky. With this in mind, we are unveiling a new feature updated weekly to better serve all areas of the State from Pikeville to Paducah and elicit more discussion in the process.
These are the inaugural Bluegrass Rivals Regional Power Rankings!
We will rank the Top 5 in each region of the stat, based on a "pound for pound" basis. We will take into account Strength of Schedule, margin of victory/defeat, magnitude of games, and come to a conclusion.
Rankings are meant for discussion, and your feedback is what we want to hear whether you agree or not. Make your case for your team!
WKY
1. Bowling Green- Purples have kicked butt and took names this year. Quality wins against 6A Lafayette and Henderson County, as well as 4A Owensboro. Stepped up to knock off 6A Super Power St. X as well.
2. Warren Central- Dragons are undefeated and doing it in impressive manner. Despite playing down, they are the only team to defeat Mayfield and they crushed a good Ft. Campbell. They also have a nice win against 6A Meade County.
3. Mayfield- No small school's resume compares to the Cardinals' with top tier wins vs. 3A Paducah Tilghman, 5A Graves County, and 4A Madisonville North Hopkins. Throw in a nice win over Murray and their lone loss coming to a Top 5A team in Warren Central.
4. Henderson County- At 3-2 their record does not indicate the quality of this team. Their losses came to one of the better Indiana schools Evansville Reitz and their other loss was a competitive defeat to #1 Bowling Green. They are the lone defeat for Christian County.
5. Murray- The 2A Tigers are essentially Mayfield Jr. All three in-state wins were against much larger schools including a pretty good 5A Graves County and 4A Calloway County
