A tragic and bizzare accident unfolded at Keeneland.
It happened at the end of the feature race, and we warn you, this is graphic footage of a horse breaking down.

It came during the final strides of the Forerunner Stakes, today's feature race. The winning horse, named 'Up An Octave,' clears the finish line but as he 's galloping out, he breaks down, throwing jockey John Velazquez and rolling over him.

In a news released put out by Keeneland Thursday afternoon Velazquez was described as "awake and alert". The track physician examined Velazquez and he was taken by ambulance to the UK Hospital for further testing and X-rays.

The horse suffered a compound fracture of the left front leg and was euthanized on the turf course.
