LEXINGTON Ky. (WYMT) - Louis Stout, known in Kentucky sports, has died Sunday morning.

Stout, 74 years old, was born in Cynthiana, Ky., and played basketball at Cynthiana High School. He played for Joe B. Hall at the college level.

In 1994 he became the first African American in the state of Kentucky to serve as the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Commissioner (KHSAA) also making him the first African American in the nation to head a state athletic association.

Stout is a former basketball coach at Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky and he later became head basketball coach at Tates Creek High School.

He was the current sitting president of the Amateur Athletic Union starting in 2011.
