For younger pitchers, what are some good tips to improving velocity on their fastball?
Lots and lots of long tossing.

The EXACT same thing that Major League pitchers do for velosity! Long toss!

There is a miss-conception of what long toss is. It's thought that you air it out like a hail-mary for as far as you can throw it. That is NOT long toss. Long toss is line throw that for the maximum distance you can throw. We call lobs for distance "Mountain Tops". That is great for stretching the arm out the day after pitching, but that is not long-toss. Proper long-toss builds velocity, arm strength and durability. Mountain Tops works great for those who go onto a career in cornhole......

Collins had a kid that picked up over 10mph from his the end of his junior year to the end of his senior year. The kid ran everyday for more than an hour, threw everyday and had a care work out 4 days a week. Went from not get anything from a school to getting a full ride at a D1 school.
Long toss to build velocity is throwing the max distance you can throw the baseball on a line. Do that on a daily bases for 20 minutes. Then back up and air it out for about 10 minutes. That will help relieve the arm after throwing. Then run as soon as you are done throwing that will keep the acid from building up in the arm.
