Woodford County's historic baseball season continues.
The Yellowjackets, who won their first-ever region title last week, rallied past South Warren 7-3 in the quarterfinals of the Kentucky National Insurance/KHSAA State Tournament on Wednesday.
Woodford County fans made up most of the 3,105 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The Jackets, sporting a school-record 32 victories and riding a 13-game winning streak, will play Bishop Brossart (27-12) in Friday night's semifinals.
"This is crazy," said junior catcher Gage Beavers, who had two hits and three RBI to stoke the comeback against the Spartans.
"This has been our goal all year. We're just executing and playing our hearts out, and it's showing in the results."
South Warren led 3-1 before Woodford County erupted for three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take control.
Logan Parrett, son of Coach Jeff Parrett, was the winning pitcher. The junior right-hander worked five innings, gave up four hits and struck out six to run his record to 8-1.
J.T. O'Reel pitched the last two innings.
"We came to play hard, to care for each other, and to have fun," Jeff Parrett said. "So far it's been fun."
After the Jackets scratched out a run in the top of the first on Chris Ares' two-out run-scoring hit, South Warren edged ahead in the second.
The Spartans took advantage when Parrett walked Andrew Vanthournout and Cole Dillard, and Patrick Barnett doubled them home.
South Warren made it 3-1 in the fourth when Jacob Vaughn singled and scored on a fielder's choice.
Woodford County put together its lead-grabbing rally in the fifth off Spartans starter Cameron Shyrock.
Justin Brown was hit by a pitch, stole second and raced home on Beavers' single to right.
"It's always good to have a guy like Justin who can get on and run," Parrett said.
Rodney Gross followed with a sacrifice bunt, and he reached base on a throwing error. Thomas Hickman, pinch-running for Beavers, scored on the play, and Gross made it all the way to third.
Parrett then singled home Gross with the go-ahead run.
Woodford County added three more in the sixth. Beavers had the clutch hit — a two-out, two-run single that scored Andy Stepp and Zach Hacker. Gross then lined a double to right to drive in Thomas Hickman, a pinch-runner for Beavers.
"Beavers' hits really pumped us up," Parrett said.
South Warren threatened in the bottom of the sixth. Ty Pitts walked and Josh Bartley was hit by a pitch. With two outs, Cole Dillard hit a grounder that got by the Jackets' shortstop and rolled into center field.
Pitts raced toward home but Ares' throw from center was on target to Beavers, who blocked the plate and tagged out Pitts.
Pitts was injured on the play and was attended to by trainers for several minutes before he was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken to a hospital.
