What to expect: This should be a wide-open tournament as only one team ranked in the final top 10 of the Kentucky High School Coaches’ Association Poll even made it to the state tournament (No. 3 St. Xavier, which won the Region 7 title). That makes St. Xavier clearly the team to beat in the upper bracket, which includes 10th Region champ Bishop Brossart, a potential second-round opponent. Probably the second-best team in the upper bracket is defending champion Central Hardin, which finished No. 12 in the final state coaches’ poll. Perhaps the hottest team in the bracket is Woodford County, which was ranked 15th in the final state poll.

The bottom bracket is wide open as it features only two ranked teams, including Newport Central Catholic’s first-round foe, Pleasure Ridge Park, which finished 17th, and Calloway County, which finished tied for 24th. PRP didn’t allow a run in its three regional tournament games.http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...306020093/
