NEW YORK â It was an odd end to the Redsâ two-game series against the Mets. The equipment truck was packed up. The locker room in the visiting clubhouse at Citi Field was cleaned out.
But the Reds werenât going anywhere. They spent another night at The Palace Hotel in Midtown.
Friday night, theyâll begin a three-game series against the New York Yankees at new Yankee Stadium. Two series â one town.
âItâs a first for me,â Reds manager Dusty Baker said. âI might have to cash another check.â

Five nights in New York City is expensive. The Reds become the first team to do the Mets-Yankees back-to-back.
One team has played both teams in the same market six times since interleague play began in 1997. In all the other cases, it happened in Chicago, Los Angeles or San Francisco.
This will be the fourth time the Reds have played the Yankees in interleague play.
The Reds are 5-4. They took two of three from the Yankees in New York in 2008, the final year of old Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees, 20-17, were in third place in the American League East entering their game against the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday night.
The Reds will send Bronson Arroyo against left-hander Andy Pettitte Friday night. Pettitte, who retired and did not play last season, has made one start this season.
Pettitte pitched 61/3 innings against Seattle May 13, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with three walks.http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120...|text|Reds
