ST. HENRY 7, HOLY CROSS 6 â Senior Brandon Schwarte and junior Mitchell Kuebbing keyed a seven-run fifth inning and combined to make the lead stand up on the mound.
The pair was responsible for half of the Crusaders six hits in the big inning, with Kuebbing leading off with a single and later adding an RBI double. Schwarte had a two-run triple in the inning.
St. Henryâs other three hits in the 11-batter inning were all bunt singles.
Schwarte pitched 5-2/3 innings before giving way to Kuebbing, who ended the sixth with a bases loaded strikeout.
Holy Cross scored two runs to pull to within one in the seventh, but Kuebbing ended the game with runners on first and second by getting a ground out to shortstop Kevin Peddicord.
