DAYTON 8, SILVER GROVE 4 â Junior Derek Holt, senior shortstop T. R. Smith, and freshman Logan Brewer all had RBIs in a three-run sixth inning that put Dayton in control.
Smith also had a two-run single in the third to help the Greendevils lead 4-1, but Silver Grove took advantage of two Dayton errors in the sixth to pull within a run, 5-4.
Holt struck out seven in four innings on the mound before giving way to Ben Schoulthies, who pitched the final three innings.
