Dayton 11, Covington Latin 1 (six innings): Dayton senior pitcher T.R. Smith came on in relief and threw four and two-thirds scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win in the Greendevils season-opener. Senior center fielder Ben Schoulthies went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI.
