Trigg County came away from Saturday’s state championship powerlifting meet at Warren Central with two high school and two middle school winners.

In the high school competition, Jayven Jones lifted in the 165-pound division and finished with a total of 495 pounds, while Devonte Nance set a state record in the 145-pound class with a total of 450 pounds. Austin Durham also lifted in the 165-pound class for Trigg, finishing third with a total of 445 pounds.

Trigg finished fifth out of 15 teams, trailing Lone Oak, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Warren Central and the champion, Hopkinsville.

Trigg lifters also placed well in the middle school competition. Jamar Humphries won in the 195-pound class and set state records with a bench press of 185 pounds and a total of 340 pounds. Dylan Parker also won in the 175-pound class. Other Trigg lifters included Cody Wood (second at 125), Dalton Hendricks (second at 135), Philip Jones (second at 145) and Payton Norsworthy (second at 155).
