In a case that has disgusted even investigators, a California man has been arrested for allegedly making meals and eating cats.
Jason Louis Wilmert is being charged in the Kern County Jail on accounts pertaining to animal cruelty and using a domesticated animal for human consumption.
Neighbors called sheriff's deputies when they could hear cats wailing and wailing at the 36-year-old's home in the Bakersfield suburb of Oildale.
The Spokesman for the Sheriff's office Ray Pruitt reported he has "never seen anything like this."
The spokesman says police found evidence that led them to think "he had the intent to use a cat for food," but he couldn't comment directly the information relating to the evidence. The case has been referred to the district attorney.
