Corbin senior Karli Blackburn is one to remember, but the Lady Redhounds’ 53-38 loss on Senior Night to Harlan is one they would like to soon forget.

Corbin jumped out to a 13-point lead, but the Lady Dragons responded with a 29-3 run to put the game out of reach.

Senior forward Ashley Mullins tossed in 24 points to lead the Lady Dragons.

“It’s the same thing that happened at Clay County,” Corbin coach Jennifer Parsons said. “We came out ready to play, but when a team makes a run our confidence level goes down and our mentality gets shaken up.”

Blackburn scored six quick points for the Lady Redhounds and Kayla Wilson hit two three-pointers as Corbin took an 18-5 lead with :31 remaining in the first quarter. Wilson led Corbin with 12 points on the night.

The Lady Redhounds were held to two points in the second quarter as Harlan managed to score 14 points to take a 21-20 lead at the half.

A three-pointer by Kayla Wilson and a free throw by Sarah Ashley were the only points the Lady Redhounds scored in the third quarter as the Lady Dragons knocked down three three-pointers to take a 38-24 advantage with one quarter remaining to play.

“We’ve played good teams,” Parsons said. “I felt like we did good for a half, but only scoring two points in the second quarter really hurt us.”

Miranda Wilson came alive in the fourth quarter for the Lady Redhounds as she poured in eight points, including a pair of threes. Miranda Wilson finished with 11 points.

“We shot the ball well tonight. Overall, it was a good team effort,” said Harlan coach Derrick Akal. “It was senior night for them and we came out a little slow, but we picked it up defensively and got a good road win.”

yup
This is not the way you want to end the season when you have to face South Laurel in the District. The two teams are very even and this one could go either way.

True.
Id like to see South upset Corbin in district.
Whitley has handled South a lot easier than Corbin this year.
