FRANKLIN - Glasgow spoiled Franklin-Simpson's senior night Thursday, cruising to a 67-33 victory at Franklin-Simpson High School.
The Scotties shot 56 percent, had three players in double figures after taking control early and pulled away in the second half. The Scotties were without senior Jalen Sublett, who missed the game due to illness.
"It was a really good win for us," said Glasgow senior guard Quentin Ellis, who finished with 20 points. "We came out a little sluggish. We tend to start a little slow, but after we picked things up on the defensive end, it became a lot easier on the offensive end for everyone to get involved."
Franklin-Simpson (12-16) scored the first four points, before Glasgow (21-5) used an 18-1 run to take an 18-5 lead after one quarter.
The Wildcats fought back, getting within 20-14 after a bucket from Devin Fox midway through the second quarter, but trailed 27-18 at halftime.
Glasgow put the game away in the third quarter with a 15-3 surge that made the score 42-21. Franklin was unable to get closer than 18 points the rest of the way as the Scotties outscored the Wildcats 40-15 in the second half.
"We mixed it up a little bit defensively," Glasgow coach Jeff Hall said. "We went to a little more of our halfcourt trap in the second half and I thought it turned them over a little bit, which allowed us to get a little better offensively."
Ellis finished 8-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range. Lajuan Smith added 13 points and Hunter Bowles finished with 10 points.
Kevin Flippin led Franklin-Simpson with nine points.
"They've got a nice team," FSHS coach Lex Lindsey said. "It was just one of those nights where the other team was just better than you are. That's what happened. The good thing is we got through the night with nobody hurt. Now we have to get ready for Russellville."
Both teams begin postseason play Tuesday. Glasgow will face Monroe County in the District 15 Tournament at Allen County-Scottsville at 6 p.m. Franklin-Simpson will face Russellville in the District 13 Tournament at Russellville at 8 p.m.
