Montgomery County has some holes to fill but should be able to improve on last season's 6-6 record, which included a nice win over Cooper in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Offense: Key returnee is QB Matt Tuttle, who holds most every school passing record. 5 starters return on offense.

Defense: Key returnees are LB's Preston and Moala. 6 starters return on defense.

Other: Good bunch of underclassmen returning. Most compete in powerlifting or wrestling, so they have been active in the offseason. A lot of experience returns on offensive and defensive lines.

Key losses: 5 players signed to play at the next level. Kicker graduates also.

Two coaching positions are available (Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator). Visit school website for details. http://www.montgomery.k12.ky.us/.

Team website is at http://www.mcindiansfootball.com. Nice highlight video of 2011 team is available on facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/mcindiansfootball.
Two things: Despite pockets of success, Montgomery County has never been able to get the sheer number of players to join the program that it needs to compete in 5A. Also, some people say having a minority on staff at the varsity coaching level -- even as a paraprofessional -- would be constructive.
Congrats to Indian Football for the great finish this past weekend in the KY STATE PUSH/PULL POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP held at North Bullitt High. Varsity (Junior/Senior) finished 5th overall and JV (Freshman/Sophomore) finished 1st overall. Results posted below.

The powerlifting team done a great job really proud of them. The football team on the other hand is a little in the air right now untill we get a new o cordinator and more bodies on the team its hard to say. The spring game is comming up so we will get an early look. The big key will be do we have any depth how many kids wont come back out you just cant be competitive in 5a football dressing 32 uperclassmen something our present staff dosent seem to understand.

CBW57, what would you have Coach Gooch do differently to get more participation on the high school level? It seems that while you were assistant coaching middle school, you had excellent numbers.
Spring Game (8th Annual Whitaker Bank Steak and Bean Bowl) played tonight. The new offense looks great! Looks like the Indians will have a lot of options this fall. I was surprised at the size of the team. The RBs are all very BIG. Good to also see so many kids out this year.
