A lot of coach bashing goes on here in the 14-16th regions from former great programs because success is not sustained.

Why?

What is the answer?

How can we determine good coaches from bad ones?

You cannot go on record alone, ask Jason Booher, who had a horrible record until he came to Shelby Valley.

Or the coaches who schedule the Piarist, Riversides, or have the famous 2-0 forfeits on the KHSAA scoreboards just to get W's.

Or the coaches who continulaly have the best teams because players fall into their laps on a constant basis.
Most of the bashing that occurs on this site is by "fans" that have personal vendettas with the coaches. You can tell it is personal by the immaturity and classlessness with which it is done. Those people have probably had a child that was cut or did not play a lot of minutes for that coach. And everyone knows that if little Johnny would've played more minutes, that program would be hoisting multiple state championship banners. The bashing is done by members of the site that are not regular members, but those that only post because of agenda that he or she has. You will see the more mature posters that actually add good discussion do not do this kind of bashing.

The better posters may disagree with the administration's selection of a coach or disagree with the way a staff handles things, but they will either A.) Leave it out of their posts and just focus on the X's and O's or B.) Seldom mention that they believe it may be time for that school to look into a change at that position. They will not make it into a crusade, but just let it be known maturely that they personally do not feel the job is being done well enough.

Sadly, with the free site, comes the group of posters that can hide behind a screen name and attack individuals that they have a personal problem free of any backlash. I have no problem with members posting an opinion and being mature and even multiple members having a civil discussion using facts to back their opinions up, but when they start escaping logic and using emotion, it can get bad. I am a firm believer that if you have a problem, that you should be able to take it up with that individual personally and not on a site like this. People will always listen to level headed comments, even if it does not influence their decision making. And they will appreciate the gesture of doing it face to face as opposed to behind their back. Unfortunately, the character of a lot of people (Myself included sometimes) is not that high and the flaws of BGR's members are easily revealed.
