The bottom line: The Hilltoppers donât have big numbers but have filled needs on both lines and will continue to add a few prospects in the final days. Six of the 12 commitments are from Florida, and three others are from junior colleges or prep schools, meaning theyâll be able to help right away.
Late movement: Willie Taggart and staff still have a few irons in the fire, including Tampa, Fla., Plant wide receiver Austin Aikens. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound speedster will choose between WKU and Toledo. He also had offers from Cincinnati, Missouri, Iowa and Vanderbilt, but those schools donât have any scholarships left.
Donât be surprised if: The Toppers wind up with the No. 1 recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference. Arkansas State has 13 three-star commitments, but with late additions and some early-enrollment news, the Toppers are closing strong.
Sleeper recruit: Ryle High Schoolâs Travis Elliott was one of the elite running backs in Kentucky before suffering a knee injury. Word is heâs recovering well.
