Madisonville coach Will Weaver coached at Fort Campbell when defensive back Marcus McClinton signed with Kentucky and Leonard Gordon with Notre Dame.

But Weaver puts the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Clark up among the best defensive players that he has coached.

“He has the potential to be the best player I’ve coached ,” Weaver said. “He grew four inches from the summer of his sophomore year to his junior year. He grew four inches and runs a 4.4 40 (yard dash).

“He can fly and he likes to hit.”

Clark had 57 tackles, returned four interceptions for touchdowns, returned a fumble for a TD and had two TDs off punt returns.

Clark, who was injured part of his junior season, received a ton of college attention after making a huge impression at several camps in the spring and summer.

Clark committed to Michigan in June, picking the Wolverines over Ball State, Central Michigan, Illinois, North Carolina State and Toledo.
