Another test passed
Good job Cats!
Didn't get to see this game unfortunately, but glad we were able to make the comeback and pull it off. This is where that Indiana game is paying off for us, going into hostile atmospheres like this.
Good win.. Good to see the young team fight back.
UK now has just as many SEC road wins as last years team.
I'll post my superlatives later on tonight.
THoughts on today's game.

First. UK showed great will and fortitude to battle back and win a tough game on the road. Tenn came out with a solid game plan to be physical and pound it to UK. They did just that and it helped them get a lead.

Second. Davis and MKG are this team. They do not play like frshmen. They look like seasoned veterans.

Third. The officiating was terrible. Doug Gottleib, a Tenn Homer, even said that during the halftime show. At the end of the first half the awful charge call, Stokes was still moving, and the strange technical foul call were all done by the same ref who screwed Western KY by failing to see 6 players on the court, Roger Ayers. The last two calls on Jones were awful. Especially the last one, where on replay you can clearly see that it was him that was being held.
Its always good to get a win at UT no matter the margin.
We'll spank UT by 30 at Rupp.
It's these road games that worries me about this young team.

As Amun Ra said, MKG and Davis are this team. If either go down, bye bye season.
I was majorly dissapointed in the rest of the team.
But a win is a win, and on to the next one we go.

Already 2 SEC road wins, gotta love that.
Always enjoy Kentucky beating Tennessee.
I would not be surprised if Davis and MKG go 1 and 2 in the draft.

Hunh??? Seriously??? For another one who was touting 40-0, this is a surprise? I thought before both Auburn and UT, we were all saying those two teams SUCK! And now it's an accomplishment?
^ I agree that Tennessee and Auburn are not great teams. However, given all the hype around UK this year, we're going to get everybody's 110% when UK plays them on the road. The Auburn and Tennessee that played UK are two different teams compared to when they play the rest of their schedule. They slowed the pace of the game down to shorten the game and contain UK, and the atmosphere was extremely hostile since it's Kentucky coming to town. I agree that we should be able to beat these teams on the road, but it's good that we are starting to get back on track in winning road games. Last year, winning road games was not a strength for UK.

It's nice that we have two road wins in tough enviroments like a previous poster had mentioned, but like you also mentioned it's nothing to hang our hat on. We still do have to go down to Mississippi State, Florida, as well as a couple of tough places. Mississippi State, especially, will be a tough one.

I think he means compared to the struggles of last year, and how this week was a good test for this team...

Righty, would you not say that UK brings out the best of the opposition in every single game that we play? BUT - This has been FOREVER, not something that has just now started.

Oh, definitely. The only difference in this year is that this is supposed to be UK's best team in many years, probably since the 96 team.

I don't think anyone is saying that now. This team would not beat Walls team! No way they could, so I really don't think this is anymore special to the opposition than it normally is. ?????

As far as potential goes this year, I think this UK team SHOULD win every damn game!

Now as far as beating Wall, Cousins, Patterson, Bledsoe... I don't think this team can.

The reason everyone knows this UK team is good, and the reason people think they should win this year is simply because you can look at the talent the NCAA has around and UK is head and shoulders better this year. Hate to compare them to the Wall team but it's like that again.. They will be tough to beat anywhere anytime.. I think they will truly win this year, I said it last year and the year before that too.. Only because UK has been so good. I will stay with my vote again and say UK or Baylor wins the NCAA tourney this year.
congrats on the win, the Stokes kid going be hard to handle down the road..
I think this team would beat the 2009-2010 team..handily. They'd run them to death. John Wall and Co could run, but most of the time it was Eric and John doing the fast breaking. Our entire roster does it now, and does it good.

Cousins would be a hell of a matchup to contain though..

I think its damn good considering we only won like 2 road SEC games last year.
The 40-0 is bull shit trolling and you know it. Obviously nobody is going 40-0 or believes that.

Auburn and UT do suck, the only difference is this year we beat them while we were losing road games last year...
I watched a good amount of this game. Cats have a lot of fight in them, and it showed against a hated rival on the road.

BUT...

UK is way too talented and it's too far into the season to have a game like that against a sub .500 team. Hopefully UK can fix whatever needs to be fixed for their upcoming games with Arkansas and Alabama, 2 teams that will give the Cats some fits.
Macbee for Tenn has the worst pornstache ever.
Game Ball: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: He did it all, got big rebounds, made big steals, played big boy basketball.

-----

Good Thoughts:

- Anthony Davis played well, 18 points, 8 rebounds & 4 steals.

- Terrence Jones played really well in his limited minutes, 10 points & 5 rebounds in 24 minutes is very solid, he also played some good defense, I did think that some of those fouls he was called for were bogus.

- Kyle Wiltjer played well in his limited minutes, although he did get beat defensively by the more athletic Tennessee players I am starting to see some improvement each game. 5 points & 1 rebound in 9 minutes is solid.

- Darius Miller towards the end of the game nailed 2 clutch free throws, thats what a senior should do.

- Marquis Teague made some great plays, and like Jones I think some of the calls against him were bogus.

- Kentucky as a team, they fought hard from the tip to the horn. It wasn't pretty, but UK has struggled against more physical teams and lately have begun to show alot of toughness.

- I loved the patience the team showed, even when things started to tilt sideways they stuck together and overcame it.

-----

Not So Good Thoughts:

- Darius Miller played a ugly game, he made alot of defensive mistakes and didn't shoot the ball that well. But I loved the 2 free throws at the end. But overall, he's had a couple rough games lately.

- Doron Lamb, nowhere to be found. Also made several defensive errors and also miss the front end of a crucial 1 & 1.

- Kentucky needs to learn how to defend the bigger, beefier teams inside. Tennessee is just the beginning of those teams.

- Marquis Teague is still making poor decisions, 1 assist to 5 turnovers...not a good ratio.
MKG for president!

I thought the same thing man...made me sick to my stomach, lol..

:notbad:
There's three good things that came out of this and that's:
1.) UK's help defense was solid.
2.) Playing against physical players hepled them understand they have to be strong down low.
3.) This helped the team get better and become more of a team.

Another thing is they're still freshman, well some of them, going on the road in the SEC is a tough task and to consistently win in the SEC is even tougher. I applaud these young men for giving 110%. As for the comparison, this team has more size at most of the positions, and can shoot somewhat better than Wall's team. But Walls team had a solid, true center who was physical down low. It's a toss up IMO.
This one had me worried but, they were able to weather the storm!! GO CATS!!

Charges count as turnovers and he was called for at least two that we totally incorrect calls. He didn't have that bad a game.
