Also do you want to be responsible as a moderator for going through every post to make sure someone hasnt said a bad word? Seems pointless to me.

We usually see eye to eye, but here were going to have to just agree to disagree. When the boss man publicly says he doesnt want post deleted because of petty stuff, to me that means no one has to right to choose which bad words get to stay or go. Unless someone is getting personal I see this as a public forum, not a kiddie/religious forum.

Im not saying I want every thread to be full of bad language, but how often did that happen when there was ZERO mods? This site is full of good people for the most part. I dont think its going to turn into garbage because a few people may use bad language to express themselves.

So, did you not see the UK/UT thread, where is was used at least 10 times that I could count? When is enough, enough????? Should that MOD waited until it was used 15 times? But it appears that you started this thread not because of what happened to you, but because of what you heard happened to others. As I said, is 10 times using the F word fit your picture of a thread "full of bad language"? If so, then is there really a problem with what was done? If its not your picture of a thread full of bad language, then I say yes, that is what you get on TOPIX!

Use to I would take matters into my own hands and delete old threads that were trolling grounds. But someone got mad and whinned and caused a big fuss over a thread that hadn't been posted on in 1 week. I use to delete prediction threads and things of that nature. But no longer do I. Now whenever I see a potential problem, I tell Midee and let him take care of it. I mostly merge threads and delete duplicate posts and approve new members posts. I don't moderate like I use too.

Even when Dusty and I were in our Mall Cop days, we didn't comb every thread looking for a chance to flash the figurative badges. When we stumbled upon it, it was taken care of.

As I see nothing wrong with over using swear words, you should remain respectful enough to consider the other people in the community. You should speak in an intelligent if you are able to comprehend how to. Speak to everyone like you would speak to your mother.

OK, its fine to disagree. I guess I'm surprised that you feel TEN F-Bombs is perfectly fine. I don't have any less respect for you, and I still really like you, but I have to admit, that's not who I thought you were either. Are you sure that you are saying a thread with 10 F-Bombs fits QQ vision for this site? Does it fit your vision?

All I want is to stay away from this happening again. If certain post are being deleted its step one. Theres a post in that same thread that uses the F word, but because it has so many likes I guess it wasnt deleted. So how can one post using the F word be deleted and another not?

Oh my God...why can't you comprehend this?!!? To my knowledge, cussing is not against the rules! That's why the word filter was lifted. Only reason I mentioned how dumb it was cussing like crazy in the Sports forums is because it gets people mad, which turns the thread into a troll-fest and completely ruins any debate and discussion. It's just my opinion. I'm guessing the posts and all posts correcting the guy were deleted because the dude was showing his ass, cussing like crazy, calling people names and not adding anything to the discussion.

The site is not going to be over-policed, you can bet your life on that. The rules aren't clear, and some Mods enforce the rules on some people and not others. All we need is the rules that we do have to be made clear, that's it. We still have a few, people just don't know them, lol.

If I call you a dumbass, that's against the rules technically, but most Mods let it go because it's a harmless word. But if I call you a g**damn mother******* p***y ass bitch, that has no place in my opinion. I'm not saying it needs to be deleted, but that crap is going overboard and a message to that person saying to chill, and not in an asshole way, is all that's needed.

I see nothing about language in member rules. So they can use it 40 times if they want. I dont use a lot of cuss words on here, but if someone wants to then thats up to them. If someone wants to put themselves out there and be seen by the public as using that kind of language then it only hurts them and the way people think of them.

CSABO! No one is saying to do anything about cusswords! I cuss, I say ass and shit and hell, all that! It's fine. We're just talking about people that go overboard and do what I;ve already mentioned, and turn the thread into an troll fest and argument and ruin it for everyone else that actually want to talk about sports the right way without losing it over an internet post!

:Thumbs: Not that I would ask anyone to cuss but if QQ or Midee would say: This is against the rules, this is not, etc... that would help everyone involved. Maybe you meant that jokingly because there was an lol, but it is a seriously good idea. I may be one of the few mods/admins that has not been on this site since 06 or 07, as a viewer or member. I do not know how the "glory days" were, lol. I was directed to this site when the "over-policing" was going on. That is all I knew.

Actually neither of these is against the rules. Only if you threaten to hunt me down and cause me harm. I agree that it has no place, HOWEVER, if YOU want to use that talk it only hurts YOU not the site.

Its not that simple when a person has the right to choose which words/post are ok or not. To look over one person using the same word and delete another persons is just wrong imo.

My God dude...you have no comprehension skills. No one is saying we're not allowed to cuss. We're saying to use good judgement, that's it! Just because you can do something doesn't mean you need to!

And I'm sure QQ doesn't mind a Mod being reasonable deleting posts that go WAY overboard and cuss like that and ruin threads...it defeats the purpose of having a sports forum.

Refering back to the rules, many times when someone starts cussing on a thread it is directed at someone else. That is considered a personal attack.

Essentially, according to the rules and my understanding of them, you can be like Vundy and cuss like a sailor as long as you do not target it at someone else. That is what I had said all along.

And you're wrong. It doesn't only hurt "you", it makes this site look stupid and diminishes our credibility when it comes to being a good forum for debate and discussion. Again, I'm talking about going overboard with a shitload of cussing, not the little stuff or even F*ck or GD once or twice.

To be honest, I hate to cuss! Hate to hear cussing! But I'm a big boy and this is a world and their is people who cuss. But a cuss word here and their does not bother me. But GD and the F word? I hate!! I've not seen much of those words because people respect the other posters on this site!

Exactly...but I use common sense and don't use the F word and GD on here unless it's in a private message. But again, that's just me. What I was saying is that I think it doesn't belong, not that it's against the rules.

YES, if it's breaking the rules! It's up to THEM to use reasonable judgement! If it's cussing every word and calling everybody every name in the book, then in my opinion, it needs to go. But if it's something small, a message works.

When did I ever mention what the site was originally? Hell this site could of been here before I was born for all I know. Im talking about since QQ said he wanted the rules to be laid back to the present.

Personally, I would rather not people cuss. My computer is in my living room and my kids are ages 9,8, and 5. All three of them often read over my shoulder when I am on here, I would rather not them read posts full of cursing.
If you do choose to curse, I am a big boy and I can handle someone cursing once in while. It sounds like that you are wanting this site to turn into topix.

Yeah...it's not just one or two people. When someone from another forum comes to our site and opens the top 5 threads in the College Basketball forum and sees nothing but arguing back and forth, it makes us, as a whole, look like we can't have a reasonable discussion without getting into a huge stupid argument.

And I'm not talking about just cussing...I'm talking about derailing threads too, and trolls who's sole purpose it to just troll and not contribute to the site...just cause trouble. Those very few should be handled.

What I'm saying is completely reasonable.
