Jacob Murton since moving to Kentucky his Freshman year has went undeafeated against wrestlers from the Bluegrass State. He captured his third straight Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Championship this past weekend - this one at the 135 pound weight class.
Murton defeated his first three opponents - Chad Scott of Woodford County in 21 seconds, Anthony Glover of Louisville Central in 1:08 and Cameron Bibbs of Christian Co. in 2:44 before scoring a 15-1 decision over Josh Ashbrook of Harrison County. Then he Pinned Tate Creeks Nate Griggs in just 1:09 to claim the Title. He done all this while wrestling with injuried ribs that has been hurting him the entire season.
Jacob was also selected the KHSAA's Most Outstanding Wrestler for the 2nd consecutive year.
Jacob has signed to wrestle at Cambellsville College where he will join his brother Jarius.
Jacob's high school career numbers are this: 153 - 11 with the only losses coming at the highest levels of regional and national competition.
Jacob will be wrestling in the Senior Nationals in March and plans to wrestle at the AAU World Team tryouts.
