Villa Madonna
Coach: Don Shields (23rd season, 346-253).

Last Season: 16-13 (34th District runner-up, lost in first round of Ninth Region Tournament to Newport Central Catholic, 60-27).

Key Players: Sr. C Sydney Maxwell (1.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg); Sr G Katie Miller (3.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg); Jr. FMorgan Case (4.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg); Jr. G Allie Hennard (6.2 ppg); Jr. F Lauren Dumaine (4.2 ppg, 2.6 rpg); Soph. F/G Alex Hengge (2.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg); Soph. F Maria Blom (2.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg).

What's New: A chance for the program to advance to a third straight Ninth Region Tournament for the first time in school history.

Outlook: Villa must make up for the graduation loss of last year's leading scorer and top ball-handler Kiley Stoll, who averaged 13.9 points per game, but if it does it has a chance to not only advance to the regional tournament for the third straight season, but perhaps even win the district. Hennard started at guard for much of last season alongside Stoll, but will be the point guard this season. There is good balance, but no main scoring threat, and according to Shields, "Defense as always will be the team strength." As season progresses, Shields says he hopes to add some promising younger players to add to the depth and contribute.
