@ Franklin-Simpson
Congrats to Collins on the win!! Western's defense did exactly what i thought, they controlled the game. A couple of bone headed selfish plays by Western's players. They had total control of the game until players started doing what they wanted to do. But thats apart of the game. It was the best game i've seen all year..

The WARRIORS didn't allow them to play well. Collins couldnt put points on the board against a good defense. But bone head plays by Western players allowed them to get the win..GOOD LUCK IN THE SEMI'S!!!
Cedric Hinkle caught a 24-yard TD pass from Lawson Page with 7:08 left to give the Titans (11-2) their first Class 5-A regional championship at Shelby County. The Warriors (7-6), who beat Collins 31-26 to win last year’s regional, never threatened in the last seven minutes.

Western had taken a 12-7 lead in the third quarter on Doreon Gordon’s 25-yard TD run. But the Warriors were generally held in check, gaining just 168 yards.

Michael Brooks’ 5-yard TD run and Austin Nakatani’s extra-point kick gave the Titans a 7-6 lead at the half. Western took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on Javon Armstrong’s 26-yard scoring strike to Dion Sutton.

5-A? Have they been kicked upstairs since last week?
The Collins football team rallied in the fourth quarter Friday night for redemption and a regional title.

Lawson Page's 24-yard touchdown pass to Cedric Hinkle with 7:08 to play gave the Titans a 13-12 victory over Western in a rematch of the Class 4A Region 2 title game at Robert Doyle Stadium.

Collins (11-2) will play at Franklin-Simpson (12-1), which beat Lone Oak, 20-7, next Friday in the state semifinals.

The Titans earned that right by avenging last year's season-ending loss to the Warriors.

In that game Collins spotted Western a 21-0 lead before falling, 31-26. This time around the Titans only dug themselves a 6-0 hole.

A pass by Page was picked off on the third play of the game, by Warriors linebacker Armon Langford, and two plays later Western (7-6) was in the end zone for a 6-0 lead (the Titans blocked the Warriors' extra-point attempt).

The Titans turned over the ball on their next possession, too, but the Warriors weren't able to capitalize on that miscue.

Collins took the lead with a 15-play drive that Michael Brooks capped with a 5-yard TD run 8:45 before halftime.

The Titans converted two fourth downs on the drive. The first was a 6-yard pass from Page to older brother Andrew on fourth-and-3 from the Western 31. And the second was a 7-yard run by Lawson Page on fourth-and-6 from the Warriors' 21.

But Western, which had just 58 yards of offense at halftime, took the opening kickoff of the second half and quickly marched downfield for a 9-play, 72-yard drive that was kept alive by a personal foul penalty against Collins.

Javon Armstrong's 26-yard run put the Warriors ahead, 12-7, -- Western's 2-point conversion pass attempt failed -- with 8:24 remaining in the third quarter.

The game stayed that way until early in the fourth quarter, when a huge hit by Hinkle on a punt return popped the ball loose, and Donte Jones recovered for Collins at the Warriors' 39.

Six plays later Page threw a perfect pass to Hinkle, who was double-covered, in the back of the end zone with a little more than 7 minutes remaining.

Western had two possessions after that, but Collins' defense stopped the Warriors on downs both times to claim the program's first region title.

Western did have a really good defense. Collins had a few turnovers, but Western held Collins to their lowest point total in the schools short history.
