TRINITY

Coach: Mike Szabo (11th year).

Last season: 21-8, lost to Ballard 73-62 in 27th District semifinal.

Player to watch: Darryl Hicks, a 6-4 junior guard, sat out last season after averaging 14.3 points as a freshman at Shelby County. Ranked among the nation’s top juniors, Hicks has a scholarship offer from Indiana.

Other top players: G Charles Foster (6-1, Sr., 11.4 ppg, 4 rpg); G Troy Saxton (6-3, Sr., 9.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg); F Nathan Dieudonne (6-7, Sr., 11.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg); G James Quick (6-1, Jr., 10 ppg, 3.9 rpg); G Miles Rice (6-0, Jr., 1.8 ppg, 1 rpg); G Andrew Perito (6-1, Sr., 4.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg); G/F Craig Owens (6-2, So., 2.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg).

Outlook: Ranked No. 1 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s preseason poll of coaches, Trinity is facing expectations it never has faced before. Three seniors already have signed with NCAA schools: Foster (Morehead State), Dieudonne (Boston University) and Saxton (Alabama-Huntsville). Hicks is the biggest college prospect of all, and Quick isn’t bad, either, considering he’s also one of the nation’s top wide receivers. After Dieudonne, there isn’t much size, so the Shamrocks will run more than normal.
Think I will see this team in action this year and I'm looking forward to it.
