The Rockets get their second win of the season
The Shelby County football team picked up its second victory of the season, and its first in Class 5A, District 4, Friday night.

The Rockets rolled over visiting Bullitt East 32-13 at Robert Doyle Stadium.

Shelby County (2-7, 1-2) trailed 13-3 at halftime, but outscored the Chargers 29-0 in the second half - including 22-0 in the fourth quarter.

All four of the Rockets' second-half scores were from 36 yards or more.

The first was a 68-yard TD run by senior wingback Brandon Ford, which pulled Shelby within 13-10, with 1:16 left in the third quarter.

Zach Shipley's 36-yard touchdown toss to a wide open Zakk Bailey put the Rockets in the lead for good with 9:47 remaining.

Junior fullback Chase Manica added the icing with TD runs of 59 and 77 yards.

Manica finished with 178 rushing yards on 13 carries (an average of 13.7 yards per rush), while Ford had 119 yards on seven carries as the Rockets rushed a collective 37 times for 287 yards.

On the flip side Shelby's defense held Bullitt East (4-5, 1-2) to only 97 yards of total offense (58 rushing, 39 passing).

Shelby County 32, Bullitt East 13: The host Rockets (2-7, 1-2 5-A District Four) scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Chargers (4-5, 1-2). Bullitt East led at the half after scoring on two Shelby County fumbles.

The Rockets ran for 287 of their 354 total yards. Chase Manica was their leading rusher with 179 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. Brandon Ford rushed seven times for 127 yards and one TD.
