Louisville coach Charlie Strong has
announced that offensive coordinator Mike Sanford is no longer with
the program.
Sanford's future with the team has been in doubt since Oct. 7
when he did not travel for the Cardinals' game at North Carolina.
Strong told Sanford during the week leading up to the game he was
moving play-calling duties to quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson.
Strong has said he planned to keep Sanford on staff, but said
Monday evening the parting was mutual. Sanford also missed
Saturday's game at Cincinnati.
Entering the North Carolina game, Louisville ranked 105th out of
the 120 FBS teams in scoring offense. They are now 111th, averaging
just 16.3 points.
Sanford went 15-43 in five years as coach at UNLV before joining
Louisville last season.
