All Associated Press members in Kentucky are eligible to participate in the high school football poll. Those who voted for this week's poll are: The Daily Independent, Ashland; Daily News, Bowling Green; The Advocate-Messenger, Danville; The News-Enterprise, Elizabethtown; Daily Enterprise, Harlan; The Gleaner, Henderson; Kentucky New Era, Hopkinsville; Lexington Herald-Leader; The Courier-Journal, Louisville; The Mayfield Messenger; The Middlesboro Daily News; Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer; The Paducah Sun; Appalachian News Express, Pikeville; The Winchester Sun; WKYX; WLKY; WTVQ.
^ Looking at this, I felt that St. X was still in the top 5 in 6A, but just could not put them that high. I guess realistically, there are only a coulde of teams better in 6A and I should have stuck to my guns.

I think yours is more accurate. St X will have their chance to earn the way back up over the next two weeks.
Looks like HC lost some points in the 5A poll this week. I guess some of the voters felt like giving up 36 points to GRC was not impressive?

This is the true rankings seen it in several media sources. They must rank Harlan County varsity 5th and Harlan Countys JV team 12th. Most of the people who vote in this poll would not know where Harlan County is and never would come to Harlan County. They always drop mountain teams if they have a idle week they have Harlan and now Perry. If your a team in there regions and are idle you go up in the polls or receive more votes.

They probably took that 1st place vote that the Daily Enterprise cast and put it under Harlan Co. B-Team.
I can understand why Rockastle jumped Boyle in the rankings, but they are not better. Boyle would easily be undefeated with their schedule right now.
Bell Co beat #6 in 6A Lafayette on the road. Lost a close one #3 in 4A Lex Cath. IMO this years Bell Co team is better than what most think.
Scott Co. got a 1st place vote after Trinity played an in state game...help explain?

Maybe, Maybe not.
I hope we get to see in the playoffs at some point.

I get what your saying though IMO Russell and Ashland would probably beat Johnson Central

Bell County got 2 1st place votes from the Middlesboro Daily News and Harlan Daily enterprise.
Harlan County got 1 1st place vote from the Harlan Daily enterprise.

These rankings are not hard to figure each News org, has 55 votes total 990 vote for all 18 voters.
The rankings and polls are all Bull just something to make these 18 PEOPLE fill like there doing somthing big.

The real polls start in November and end on Dec 3rd whoever is the best and LUCKiest will show then.

FOOTBALLS BOUNCE IN ALL SOURCE OF WAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^
Im sure it was a paper in georgetown.
Same thing happens in 5A with harlan county getting a vote and you know thats by the harlan co. paper

I think Boyle would have a really tough time scoring against Rock. Boyle's offense has been sub-par at best. I think Rock would have plenty to say in the match-up. Here's the way I see 4A at this point in the year.

Tier 1: Highlands

Tier 2: Covington Cath

Tier 3: Lexington Cath, Boyle Co, Rockcastle Co
Tier 4: Russell Co, Ashland, Madisonville, Franklin-Simpson
Tier 5: Johnson Central, Knox Central, Lone Oak, North Oldham

They are very close. If I were to simply list the teams in 4A that I honestly feel are the best today without consideration for where they were ranked last week, I'd have:

Highlands
Cov Catholic
Boyle Co
Rockcastle
Madisonville
Russell Co
Franklin-Simpson
Ashland
Knox Central
Lone Oak
Johnson Central
North Oldham
MSU Eagle Wrote:I can understand why Rockastle jumped Boyle in the rankings, but they are not better. Boyle would easily be undefeated with their schedule right now.

Maybe come playoffs we will see but until they play you cant say who is better or not IMO
laker20 Wrote:Highlands

Now thats a set of rankings that I believe will prove to be more accurate as the season progresses, Lexington Catholic would have to be ahead of Boyle though after last Friday

I hope we do get to see in the playoffs. They Boyle/Rock rivalry has been dead the last several years, but it may be renewed this year in the playoffs.
