What is the state record for most wins by a team in a single season. i know Sacred Heart won 37 games back in 2001/02 has any one ever won more in one season.
The KHSAA doesnt list that stat, but I would assume the one you mentioned has been beaten. Laurel County didnt lose a game for 3 years back in the late 70's and holds the titles for most championships.

Sorry i couldn't help you out with your question, but i thought most of these were pretty interesting. You'll notice a lot of these schools dont exist anymore or are now consolidated like Laurel County for example is now North and South Laurel, with South possessing the records that Laurel Co. has.
In the state championship year of 2000, West Carter was 38-1. Due to a misunderstanding on how to count games, WC may have had to vacate the record for the most wins in a year due to being over the game limit. I am pretty sure this is accurate..by the way, I believe the loss came to Hart County.
I thinkone of the reasons this is being asked is because there are a couple of teams, that if they run the table through their regional championship game could have 39 or 40 wins.
Whitesburg won 39 straight games in the 1982-1983 season before losing in the state championship to a Warren Central team led by Miss Basketball Clemette Haskins.

Ive been noticing that some girls teams have been playing a lot of games this year, some teams went to two or three holiday tournaments.
no one in a long time will beat that 74 game winning streak that was done by Laurel County.
I am going to try to confuse or clarify this question with an explanation. KHSAA rules state each team is allowed 23 playing dates. Two tournaments are callled "free" which means a team can play up to 4 games in two separate tournaments and they would be counted as 2 games toward your limitations of dates(23). So that would leave a team with 21 more games to be played for a total of 29 regular season games. A team can play in as many tournaments as they want but every tournament game played after the two "free" that are allowed will be counted as a game date. For example if a team played a third tournament in the regular season and played 4 games that team would only have 17 dates available for the rest of the schedule. In summary, a team plays two 4 game tournaments and 21 regular season games for a total of 29 games, then plays 2 games in district tournament, 3 games in regional tournament, and 4 games in state tournament for a grand total of 38 games. This is the most wins a team can possibility accumulate in a single season in Kentucky HS basketball according to KHSAA limitations of games rules. Hope this clarifys this question.
Thanks Basketball_Guru. I guess that means a team would need to only play 38 total games and go undefeated all the way through the title game to have the unbreakable record.
