Prestonsburg 26 Floyd Central 24
#1
Final from FCHS
#2
Pburg picked up the momentum near the end of the third and never let it go. Floyd Central dropped a pass in the end zone on a 4th down Hail Mary with 30 seconds left. Hats off to them, they played a great game, especially on offense.

3 in a row for the cats.

Congratulations to Coach Brewer its been a long road for him, but he finally seems to be gaining ground. He had a good plan and his boys executed it pretty well, but nearly threw themselves out of it with the offsides they were all at crucial moments. The face mask at the end was not good either but it worked out well. Good luck to the Blackcats going forward.

Defense has to improve but how about that Blackcats OL? They looked to really wear out the Jags DL in the 2nd half.

Way to go Cats!

I'm so happy for these boys and coach Brandon Brewer. This man took a risk leaving his hometown school to coach at Prestonsburg with expectations to compete for regional and state championships. He took over a program that was going through a lot of change at the time and things were very negative around the program and school, but he finally found the right staff and kept these boys focused and working toward rebuilding this program back to relevance. This win tonight is a big step in the right direction for Prestonsburg football and getting that mojo back this program once had. Winning changes everything.

As for the game itself... Floyd Central couldn't have asked for a better first half. It went exactly how they wanted, as they dominated the LOS and TOP. At the half, WMDJ said that FC ran 37 plays to Pburg's 9. The second half was a much different story, as FC got tired and Jarvis and Akers started gashing up the Jaguar defense for huge chunk plays and quick scores.

The Blackcats overcame 4 critical offsides penalties and still managed to win the game.

As for FC, your heart has to break for that team if you're a fan of football. They played a great game and almost won the game on 4th down on a hail mary.

Congrats Blackcats!

Enjoy this win and get back to work Monday. There's a district championship out there for the taking!

I think that if Pburg works on their snap discipline and shores up their weakness at LB and edge containment then they're a serious contender in their district. A district title this year isn't out of the question and would be a HUGE step for Coach Brewer and this program. If you all want to watch something special to to WPRG Facebook or YouTube and watch #18 Ethan Jarvis become the physical and emotional leader of his team in the 4th quarter. Even when they were down 24-12 at the beginning of the 4th, after every run he would jump up and ask for the ball again. You could literally watch empty gas tanks start filling back up just from his enthusiasm and desire to win. Proud to be a blackcat today!

Yeah, the receiver had a chance.  I thought he was going to come up with the reception, but it bounced off his hands.  It was a nice win for the Blackcats.
