Classic Country Music Thread: Names of Cities/Towns in the Song Title
#1
You guys know I'm a 70's and 80's rock guy by heart. However, I listened to a lot of country music in the seventies, eighties, and in to the early nineties( the end of my two-stepping days).

I thought we'd share some of our favorite classic country songs that mention the name of a city or town in the title.  I'll let you decide what you consider "classic."  Let's see how many great old songs we can come up with names of towns and cities in the title.

I'll start with a legendary composition performed by a legendary artist and you guys can follow up with some of your favorites.

My favorite Alan Jackson song happens to be his very first hit.  God, I miss  good old country music.

Here's my girl, Loretta, (with Jack White) :

Well, Portland Oregon and sloe gin fizz
If that ain't love, then tell me what is, uh huh, uh huh
Well I lost my heart, it didn't take no time
But that ain't all, I lost my mind in Oregon
In a booth in the corner with the lights down low
I was movin' in fast, she was takin' it slow, uh huh, uh huh
Well, I looked at him and caught him lookin' at me
I knew right then we were playin' free in Oregon
Next day, we knew last night got drunk
But we loved enough for the both of us, uh huh, uh huh
In the morning when the night had sobered up
It was much too late for the both of us in Oregon
Well, sloe gin fizz works mighty fast
When you drink it by the pitcher and not by the glass, uh huh, uh huh
Hey bartender, before you close
Pour us one more drink and a pitcher to go
And a pitcher to go

Wow, there, OSH, glad you started your first country thread with a subject with only about a million possibilities!! Here’s a couple.

And the definitive version of this classic.

And here’s this classic, written by Kentucky’s own John Prine and sung by the fabulous Bonnie Raitt.

"By the time I get to Phoenix" by Glen Campbell

"Kentucky Gambler and Okie from Miscogee" by Merle Haggard

The song doesn't really fit in here but Johnny Cash mentions Jellico in his song, "I've been everywhere Man".
