Kentucky Triple Crown will bring Spring Nationals Series to Bluegrass State on April 17/18/19 Trips to 201, Ponderosa and Florence will be worth over $55,000 in three days

BRASSTOWN, NC (April 10, 2014)—The Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series by Schaeffer’s Oil will make the northern trek into the Bluegrass State of Kentucky for three huge nights of dirt late model action at 201, Ponderosa and Florence Speedways on Thursday through Saturday April 17, 18 and 19.

At 201 Speedway in Sitka, Ky., it will be the second-ever series visit on Thursday Night April 17 th paying $4,000 to win and $400 to start the 40-lap Johnny Salyer Memorial main event and Round # 5 of the ten-race mini tour. Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV claimed the caution-free thrilling event win during the series visit in 2013. The Open Wheel Modifieds and Bombers will be the supporting divisions that night. The Gates will open at 3:00 pm with driver’s meeting at 6:30 pm then Hot Laps will follow shortly after. Adult General Admission is $20.00 and Pit Passes are $35.00. Anyone needing a room on Thursday Night may contact the track’s official lodging destination the Ramada Inn of Paintsville, Ky. at (606) 789-4242. Jarrod Breeding, a racer and native of Isom, Ky. purchased the track less than two years ago and has revived the 3/8 th ’s mile track last season and the track will open for their 31 st season of competition when the Spring Nationals come to town. The race is being run in memory of long-time track employee and track prep specialist Johnny Salyer who spent over the last 20 years of his life working at the track. Salyer passed away last Christmas Day of Cancer.

Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. will host Round # 6 of the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals on Friday Night April 18 th paying $4,000 to win and $400 to start for the 2 nd Annual Spring Showdown. The Open Wheel Modifieds will race for $1,500 to win plus the Pro-Late Models, Sportsman and Pure Streets will all be on the racing card for the evening’s events at the Jerry Denson-promoted oval. The Pit Gates will open at 4:00 pm and Grandstand Gates will swing open at 5:00 pm, the Driver’s Meeting is set for 7:00 pm and Hot Laps will begin shortly after. Adult General Admission is $20.00 and Pit Passes are $35.00.

The King Family owned Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. will host Round # 7 of the Spring Nationals Series with the running of the 38 th Annual Spring 50 event paying $5,000 to win and $450 to start on Saturday Night April 19 th . The will mark the first-ever visit to the track located in Northern Kentucky. Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN is the defending race winner of the storied Spring 50 event. The Open Wheel Modifieds, Crate Late Models and Pure Stocks will also be on the racing card that night. The Pit Gates will open at 4:00 pm with the Main & back gates swinging open at 5:30 pm and Hot Laps are slated for 6:00 p. on April 19 th . Adult General Admission is $22.00 while Pit Passes are $35.00.

Each night’s events will feature a complete show of Practice, Time Trials, Last Chance Heat Races and the main event. The entry fee is $100 at all series events plus transponder rental that will be used to time and score the cars (per series rules). The tire rule for each event will be as follows: Hoosier- 1300, 1350, 1600, LM 40 (both front and rear); American Racer- 44, 48, 56 (both front and rear). Tires will also be checked for soaking and by durometer for hardness before each car goes on the track for qualifying or any racing action. The car and driver weight rules for this event will be as follows: 2350 lbs.- Open Motor; 2300 lbs.- Steel Block/Aluminum Head-Spec Motor Only (8" spoiler allowed, 12" sides); 2250 lbs.-CT525 Motor (8" spoiler allowed); 2250 lbs.-All Steel Motor or Crate Motor (12" spoiler allowed). There will be a 1 lb. per lap burnoff plus 5 lbs. in the Heat Races and Feature, plus if the driver is using a HANS Device that will allow a 30 lb. weight break and the use of a working fire extinguisher will allow for a 20 lb. weight break.

The track is located ten minutes from Paintsville, KY to Highway 23 North then Highway 201 which runs you into Speedway. Track is located 1 ½ hours East of Hazard, KY and four hours Northeast from Knoxville, TN. The track will host an open practice session on Wednesday April 16 th with details on the track’s website.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, is only minutes from Danville, Ky.. Track is located roughly three hours West of Sitka, KY after Thursday’s event. Track is located less than an hour South of Lexington, KY and around 2 ½ hours North of Knoxville, TN.
