Georgia State football (3-2) entered today's game having played four times in its brief history, and the prior three had moments that reflected this team's inexperience. Today at the Georgia Dome before 15,264 fans, everything came together for the Panthers in a 37-10 Homecoming victory over Morehead State.

The first quarter told the story. The visiting Eagles (2-3) had the ball for five series and did virtually nothing with it. An interception thrown by GSU redshirt sophomore quarterback Star Jackson ultimately led to MSU's only first-half score, a 27-yard Rainer Duzan field goal with 2:12 left in the first quarter. In fact, Morehead State punted eight times during the game.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Panthers and redshirt freshman quarterback Drew Little excelled. The first series was more methodical and ended in a Little 6-yard touchdown pass to redshirt freshman receiver Jordan Giles. Georgia State's second series was highlighted by a 42-yard Little completion to freshman receiver Albert Wilson, followed by redshirt freshman back Parris Lee's 4-yard touchdown run.

In the second quarter, redshirt senior placekicker Iain Vance's season-long 49-yard field goal extended GSU's lead to 17-3. That score was followed by two series where Little completed 8 of 10 passes, including touchdown passes to junior tight end Arthur Williams for 11 yards and redshirt junior receiver Sidney Haynes for 12 yards. A third-quarter 69-yard drive that ended in a 2-yard touchdown pass from Little to Williams essentially iced the game.

Little's statistics were sterling - 21 passes completed out of 29 attempts for 287 yards, no picks and 4 touchdowns. Redshirt freshman receiver Danny Williams caught 8 passes for 101 yards and Lee led the Panthers in rushing with 62 yards on 8 carries.

The defensive line sacked red-hot MSU quarterback Zach Lewis twice, the secondary harassed his receivers when it counted and also intercepted two of his passes. The offensive line only allowed one sack and set up holes that permitted the Panthers to run a season-high 40 times for 186 yards.

Georgia State football next plays Savannah State on Saturday, October 9, at 1 p.m. in the Georgia Dome.
