The Middlesboro Middle School Jackets improved to 2-1 on the season with a 36-8 win over South Laurel Tuesday evening.

Parker Uhl had a big game for MMS as he scored on touchdown runs of 19, 28 and 40 yards.

Middlesboro took the lead late in the fourth quarter as Major Edwards passed to Ryan Pittman for a 15-yard touchdown. Edwards connected with Jake Brock for the two-point conversion and the Jackets went up 8-0.

After forcing a South Laurel punt, Middlesboro drove back down th e field again and Uhl capped the drive with a 19-yard run to the end zone. He added the conversion run as MMS took a 16-0 lead into the half.

MMS fumbled on their first drive of the third quarter, but Brock came away with an interception on a 4th & long play and returned it 82 yards for the third Jacket touchdown. Edwards passed to Seth Barton for the conversion and the lead was 24-0 with 5:28 to play in the third quarter.

Uhl added a 28-yard run to stretch the Middlesboro lead to 30-0 at the 1:14 mark of the third. He later tacked on a 40-yard touchdown run early in the fourth for to put MMS up 36-0.

South Laurel got on the board with about four minutes to play on a long pass play and they added th e two-point conversion.

But the Jackets were able to run out the clock on their following possession and walked away with the 36-8 victory.
