Louisville is number 7 and Kentucky still is not ranked. I totally disagree with UK not being ranked after the way they have been playing.
I think once the AP Poll (which is the one that counts) comes out we will be ranked.
uk left out of both polls what more do they have to prove to get into the top 25

Beats me.

Maybe a thumping of Ole Miss on national television tomorrow night will convince voters.

Beat somebody good. Big Grin
Although they havent, there playing as good as a top 25 team, and should be ranked soon.

So I guess beating UT is not a good win. Also WVU who beat G-Town who is ranked is also not a good win.
I never say anything bad about the polls, because they ultimately mean nothing, but this is ridiculous.

Notre Dame and Georgetown are both 12-6, and neither team won this week.

I don't care how strong people think the BigLEast is, there is no justification in rankings teams that have lost 3 straight, and 5 out of their last 7 (GTown)

I'm happy for Tubby at Minnesota, but there is no way they should be ranked either. They've lost 2 of their last 3, and squeaked by Indiana who is one of the worst teams in basketball.

And I'm so tired of hearing Gonzaga, that it makes me sick. They've beaten Tennessee twice, but they've also lost to the likes of Portland State. They have just as many losses as UK, and play in a cup cake conference.

My biggest gripes are numbers 22-25. Other teams can make an argument, but I don't know what Kentucky has to do.
kentucky should have been put where UF is in the polls... UK is in first place in the SEC and won 11 of last 12

Completely agree!

It will be hard for anyone to argue with that.

Another good point, the fact that Florida is somehow still getting more votes than Kentucky after losing to South Carolina this week is absurd.

I agree alfus. The big east is strong, but not as strong as the hype surrounding the conference. Keeping the big east teams ranked with 6 losses at this point in the season, is ridiculous. In my opinion, this is all the result of somekind of promotional agenda. What better way to get large numbers of people to tune in every week, when you can market a top 25 matchup between two teams in the most powerful conference ever assemble. Thank god we have the march madness tournament to decide things on the floor. Here is a hint, let's wait and see how well the big east performs overall as a conference in the big dance, before we go anointing them the greatest conference ever. Respect and greatness should be earned on the floor, and some of these big east teams are, however, the others seem nothing more than hype. Example, Georgetown, Notre Dame. If the big east dominates March Madness, then maybe some of these rankings could be justified. I just don't seeing them dominating. From what I have seen, I think the ACC will have the best showing overall, and win the National Title.

UL is supposedly(according to rankings) one of the big easts best teams, and I don't disagree with their ranking. Then you got Kentucky that is 1-1 , or 500 vs the big east, only losing to UL on a last second shot on their home floor, and beating WV on a neutral floor. Whereas, Georgetown and Notre Dame are 3-4 each, and they will be lucky to even finish 500 in conference. WVU has a better conference record than them, and they are unranked. Is the big east really that much better than everyone else, or is it all hype?

This is all hype to build up a tough conference. ESPN talks about the Big East getting 10 teams in. I don't see how this is possible. They might get 8, but 10 is a little outrageous.

ESPN is in love with the Big East Conference and that is why they get all of the attention that they do. I for one, am sick of it.

You have an excellent point QQ, and I very much agree.

The Big East has the most powerful conference of the BCS conferences, but IMO the teams are not nearly as good as ESPN/AP makes them out to be.

Whens the last time UK was ranked in the ESPN poll? Preseason last year?
Aslan Wrote:Whens the last time UK was ranked in the ESPN poll? Preseason last year?

I'm not sure if that was the last time they were ranked or not, but that sounds pretty accurate to me. If that was the case, then they didn't deserve to be ranked at that time. The voters should have known Kentucky would struggle with new coaches and new philosophies coming in. As with many coaching changes, there will be transfers, some of the previous coached players often struggle to adjust to the new coaching philosophies and culture. I knew there would be many bumps last year and even a few this year. But the road is getting smoother for the Cats.

The ranking the cats possess now was earned, it wasn't given.

Good record. They will probably be a high seed in the NCAA Tournament and get knocked out the first round.

I don't agree with their ranking either.
On Yahoo, it has Kentucky ranked 24 in the AP Poll and to be honest, I see no way how UK is not ranked, I mean they should at least be 20. Yahoo user's has Kentucky at 19

St. Mary's key wins against Pacific by 9, Kent St. by 6, and a shoot out with CSU Bakersfield 80-74 should put them in the top 25.
The coaches poll is biased in my opinion because most coaches don't like the SEC coaches from what I've been hearing.
In bracketology, Joe Lunardi has Kentucky as a No. 4 seed in the NCAA tourney.. hope they can stay around there.. So they can make a deeper run in the bracket..
Hmm, this couldn't be because a lot of the other coaches hate Billy Clyde, could it? I mean, it's not like the national coaches' association has publicly reprimanded him anytime in the last couple years...

Oh, wait. Rolleyes
