I was thinking back about all the other big time college basketball programs and realized how horrible North Carolina was there for 2 or 3 years, and how horrible UCLA was for like an entire decade. How come no one ever said anything about them or criticized them? Why do they always find a reason to talk bad about UK when we have a few down years?

Ohh I will always truly hate UCLA UNC Duke Michigan St. I cant stand any of them teams and will always root against them.

That is a work of art.
Truely, what makes the country hate us is the lack of knowledge from the common fan of our fanbase. UK's fanbase is amazing, seeing how many "fair weather fans" there are in this state. When credit is due, no credit is given. And when patience is needed, no time is given. The arrogance of the fanbase is because of our tradition and has made the common everyday fan think that if the team is not like 1996-98 teams the program is in a spiral. The whole country see us as too ignorant to realize when patience is needed and when improvement is actually taking place. I don't think everyone hates them its just that were finally getting some good coaches and they are rebuilding the programs for us.

Were just having some bad luck that's all. we will get better just you wait and see!!!

Probably because their is a lot expected out of UK, but they forget we are rebuilding and will need time to get back to where we once were, and UNC was the same way, as was UCLA.

I agree that we will get better...I was just curious why everyone always seems to be against us..I guess when you do have so much expected every year you will take a lot of crap.

I have been reading on the catspause boards, and what is being said there is absurd. I understand people being upset about the whole Porter situation. He should be getting about as many minutes as Jared Carter. However, the internet makes everyone think they are the next Adolph Rupp, eventhough some fo them probably can't even make a lay up.

Because every year UK fans always say that UK is or should be the best team in collesge basketball

Thanks. As a Yankee hater (and Red Sox hater), I can totally understand where people are coming from when they say they hate us. It just makes it fun to be on the inside of the circle for once.

Most people hate the Yankess and UK is the Yankess of College Basketball.

Most people hate UK, because of the radical fan base who is for the most part among the most irrational fans in America. Sad but true.

I dont hate UK, I just hate the coach. When it comes to college basketball, UK used to be thought of as the best team ever and was among the most feared to play. That has all changed now with Gillispie as coach. UNC isnt far behind UK in wins, **** they will probably pass them this year or next, and not look back. I hate the Yankees not because they are probably the greatest team in MLB history, I hate them because of how they go about their business. Signing all these big name free agents because they think it will help them win another championship when in fact it hasnt worked since 2000, before they started getting really bad for it. I know its not all their fault, these players they get are money hungry and they think they deserve it, when they dont. Back to UK now. They wont be a good team again until they get a coach that knows how to get things done, like beating teams they should beat and getting the players to play as a team, oh and not telling a recruit that he is going to be the main guy when he gets on campus. Playing the right players and actually coaching a game instead of sitting most of the time chewing his nails. When UK played MVS saturday, Sean Woods was coaching his *** off the whole game, even at the end of the game when they didnt have a chance to come back, he had his players playing with all they had in them. No one likes a coach like Gillispie, or at least I dont and I know of alot of other people that dont either. The UK fans expect way too much out of a team that hasnt won anything since 1998, its time to realize that UK is no longer the dominant team it once was, that they are just mediocre at best, and thats all they will be until they get the right people in place to run things. UK sports, mostly basketball, has been on a decline since Mitch Barnhart took over as AD, football was never that good anyway, but he made it worse when he hired Brooks and his cronies to coach. That is why no one likes UK sports.

I think a lot of it has to do with people being jealous. Digger Phelps could never reach the coaching level of UK and couldn't beat us so he takes it out on us on gameday. The media I believe sees Kentucky, the state, in a negative light and doesn't respect us therefore they try and bring down our sports programs or marginalize their accomplishments. I also think that we are the Yankees of college basketball. UNC seems to be the Red Sox. We are this big lumbering giant of a program, maybe not the evil empire, but we do expect greatness and we do hold our teams and coaches accoutability for losing maybe to a fault. But when your goal is final four or bust why not hold them accountable. Why settle for mediocrity. We can be the Cincinnati's or Utah's and have a good team every once in a while and be happy with that. People would still come to the games, buy merchandise, and cheer for them. But why winning is so much more fun and that's what these people don't get. Only one team and their fans can be happy with how the season ended. We just want to be happy that's all.

i think uk is doin alright. they have had a few bad years let this coach settle in and they will be the bomb

Billy G was talking on his radio show a couple weeks back about the UK fans. I thought he put it rather nicely. He said that he likes the craziness and how the fans expect to win every single game. That's why the players come and why he loves it. He said "who wants to play where the people don't want you to and expect you to win every game." Or something to that effect. And something about how he wanted to be held accountable for every loss by the fans because we hate, and he hates, losing. The more I thought of it, the more it made sense. And made me think that we truly are the best fans.

Because I am a Tennessee fan....

Everyone but Greg Anthony hates us. Thats on CBS and ESPN.
