After a tough loss to #2 Alabama, UK hits a very crucial stretch in it's schedule. They host back-to-back homes games against South Carolina and Arkansas.
  • Winning both puts the Cats at 6-1, 2-1 in the SEC, and a sure bet for a 3rd straight bowl game.
  • Splitting the two will have them at 5-2, 1-2 in SEC play, and still a managable task of playing postseason football, but a little tougher with "winnable games" against Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee.
  • Losing both games would put UK at 4-3, 0-3 in SEC, and hopes of a bowl game resting on the shoulders of a young, and somewhat inexperienced offense.
Kentucky has never beaten Steve Spurrier (at Florida or South Carolina), nor have they beaten Bobby Petrino (at Louisville).

South Carolina has a stout defense, but not nearly as tough as Alabama's, and we moved the ball pretty decent in the second half. USC's defense is only giving up just over 14 points per game. Again, the offense of UK will move as long as the offensive line protects Hartline and blocks for the backs. They don't run-block, UK is one-dimensional. They don't pass-block, Hartline is rushed and will make bad decisions, simple as that. UK's offense can't afford any slow starts in either one of these important games. They were lucky to only be down 14-0 at halftime against Bama.

Arkansas is bad! They're young, inexperienced, and have lost they're last 3 games by a combined score of 139-31. Their defense allowed 27 points to Louisiana-Monroe and 24 points to Western Illinois, respectively. UK should be able to score on the Hogs. Their allowing 38 points per game, and the fewest they've allowed is 24 (Western illinois).

You have to assume the defense will continue to play lights out, especially at home! The offense will have the home crowd behind them, and should be able to score some points. Being at home should really help UK for the next few weeks, and if they win both, they will a lot of momentum going into Gainesville October 25! Should be an exciting next few weeks!
We can not afford to lose these games.
