The Russell Red Devils "Maroon Machine" played very well today against the Bracken County Polar Bears. The Maroon Machine put up 400 yards of offense today and the defense allowed no positive yards... The first team was only allowed 6 plays in the whole game and they used them very wisely. Connor Messer had 2 carries -2 TD and 145 yards rushing. Brawny Korzep had 1 carry for 65 yards and a TD. Logan Suman had 1 reception for 1-EXP and Bobby May had 2 completions for XPs.
The big stars of the game were the back-up RBS who pounded out the yardage. Spencer Cole had 7 rushes for 130 yards and a TD, Nick Samuels had 6 carries for 60 yards and Will Peterman and Jordan Stephens split QB duties and produced yardage as well. Will Peterman also threw a 20 yard TD pass to Jordan Stephens. Peterman then ran in the XP.... The Machine Defense,, held the Bears in their dens all day and allowed nothing to cross the goal line..... Great Job Offensive linemen today and defensive lineman.. If not for your blocking, none of the backs could have made it........
Great Job Maroon Machine of Russell-- Belfry in 1 week at Shelby Valley........
gettin ready!!!
Sounds like you got a good little team there, Big Grin.
Those are the kinds of games you feel sorry for the other kids. I was there and it was bad.
It could have been alot worse,, the starters played 6 offensive plays, and 4 defenseive plays. The defense held them to minus 25 yards..
The Polar Bears are very nice kids and played hard, after the game they just smiled and shook our kids hands. They all said good game, and never once dropped their heads. This team may have been a little short on talent but they had more heart than alot of teams we have played. Once they get football experience under thier belt,, they wil be very good. When these kids get to high school they will make a difference.. It just takes time for a new program to become stable and these kids are the key to the future of Bracken County football.... Great effort and the coaches are top notch.
