Russell Maroon Machine is working on getting back on track. They slip by the DAWGS tonight to go 8-1. The sputtering offense of last week seemed to be oiled this week and grounded out over 400 yards of offense. Seven diiferent running backs carried the pig skin tonight in a game that would see defense be the key to a win. Wil Peterman had his best showing tonight on defense as he fills for Garion Robinson who has a buckle fracture to his left wrist. Peterman also became the starting end on offense. Peterman is the back up QB and has constantly improved his game with his best showing coming in the win tonight over the Lawrence County DAWGS.
With 30 kids on the roster and all kids playing eveygame,,, sometimes it is a hard decision to play to win or play to improve..... I think we try to even it out as much as possible.. Peterman and Bobby May at defensive ends shut down the counters and options this week as they held their position with great discipline. The second offensive line came in and moved the ball as a unit. All 3 second team backs had great runs and produced offensive yards... The coaching staff was very pleased with the effort of this team tonight. Last week was wake up call for the MACHINE...... Tonight was the warming of the engines as we go into a game Saturday at home with Bracken County.
I would like to thank Lawrence County for a great game, beautiful field and a lot of work went into the effort of this game... Great job " BIG MAROON MACHINE !!!!"
LC is a tough opponent and good luck with the rest of the season.
