How did teams look?

I have watched a few days this week, so far really well-ran team camp with lots of Mountain-based competition. Hats off to the UPIKE staff!

Boyd looked good both days. They can shoot it, for sure. They hit 13 three point shots in one of the games against good competition. Lawrence is young, but played well both days against same level competition. Morgan County, with the new transfers from Elliott, looked better than last few years.

As far as the 14th goes, Knott looked better and played at a much quicker pace under Coach Huff. Knott did lose by 20+  to talented Pikeville team, but other than that won their matchups. Pikeville’s Rylee Sammons and the 6’8 big, paired with the addition of Eli Johnson, will be a tough one to beat. They may make it to the state tournament!

Breathitt is as loaded as ever. They beat everyone to death— including a talented Huntington High School Team out of WV. Breathitt won all of their games by 20+ this Summer with the exception of the 5 point Letcher County Central game. Letcher only had five or six players and their big, Adam’s, was on crutches and didn’t play. Breathitt had all their players returning—including the talented Austin Sperry back from the EYBL circuit! Letcher played well even with two of last years starters missing. Could be the hardest playing team in the mountains.

Phelps, Elliott, and Greenup were all young and working on building.
