What are some songs you liked that you felt were well ahead of their time---  songs that seem to have had a window into the future and are more relevant today than when they first came out.

I'll start with one that came out in '83 or '84 . It has a futuristic vision that so eerily predicted the world we live in today. Notice the computer screen onboard Rick's spaceship. It says the date is 2016 A.D. ... we are already there , and then some.  I saw hjm perform this live just a couple of years ago. More relevant today than it was in '83. Staying six feet apart, wearing masks, Zooming ... we all need the HUMAN TOUCH more than ever!!!

Everybody's talking to computers,
They're all dancing to a drum machine
I know I'm living on the outside
Scared of getting caught between
I'm so cool calculated alone in a modern world

---Rick Springfield("HUMAN TOUCH")

Love the song but it has to be one of the creepiest ever written, especially since some of the things it foretells has already come to pass and we haven't even reached 2025 ,   still a half century until 2525 .

"You'll pick your son...
Pick your daughter too...
From the bottom of a long glass tube."  ---

Zager and Evans("IN THE YEAR 2525")

Pressure pushing down on me

Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets...

It's the terror of knowing what the world is about

Watching some good friends screaming

"Let me out!"

Pray tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people, people on streets...

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them

No, no, no

Don't it always seem to go

That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot

Hey farmer, farmer, put away your DDT
I don't care about spots on my apples

Leave me the birds and the bees

Please

Don't it always seem to go

That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Hey now, they paved paradise to put up a parking lot...

--- Joni Mitchell("BIG YELLOW TAXI")
