* Higher RPI hosts first round games.
• Welcome to the Sweet 16:

Third year program Great Crossing is making its first tournament appearance. The last team outside of Lexington to make it to the Sweet 16 from the 11th was Woodford County in 2004.

Bowling Green is also a first timer, breaking through the Greenwood/South Warren/Logan Co. blockade in the 4th over the last two decades.

Montgomery County is the first team outside Northern Kentucky to represent the 10th since the 2003 realignment expanded the state from eight to sixteen regions.

• Welcome Back!

From the 16th - Boyd County is making its first trip to the dance since 2003.

From the 8th - Oldham County last qualified in 2013. It's been all North Oldham in between.

• Notable Streak:

Coach Tim Whitis has guided a team to the tournament for 12 straight years - 2010 to 2013 at Lone Oak, and 2014 to 2021 at McCracken County.*

• MIA for 2021:

Assumption and Notre Dame. At least one of the schools has qualified every year since the tournament started in 1979.

* Forgot to note in the bracket post that McCracken Co. is ranked #15 in the latest KVCA poll.
Mercy should roll to the Championship game.
