In a battle of two unbeatens, Prestonsburg downs Valley in the Jenny Wiley Bowl tonight.

This game was all about the defenses, as neither offense was very impressive. P-Burg took first possession, but Valley forced and recovered a fumble on the first play from scrimmage. They would then get the ball down to the 8-yard line, but were stopped a half a yard short on 4th down. Prestonsburg then took over and broke a LONG run for a touchdown on the first play of the drive (aided by at least 5 missed tackles). The conversion made it 8-0.

Valley would then answer back with a long drive of their own, capped off by a touchdown. However, a fumbled handoff on the conversion left Valley down 8-6. P-Burg would move the ball down the field again, and was able to score again to make it 16-6. Any chance of another Wildcat score before halftime was ended when they lost a fumble near midfield.

The second half saw no scoring at all. Valley took the opening possession into P-Burg territory, but was stopped about a foot short on 4th down once again. The Blackcats then drove deep down the field, but fumbled it away. However, after moving across the 50, Valley was again unable to convert on fourth down, and the Blackcats were able to run out the clock.

In the end, this was a game that was there for the taking, but too many mistakes doomed Valley. The failure to score on their first drive, despite taking it inside the 10-yard line, was the worst mistake, and after that there were several fumbles and missed blocks that kept the offense from clicking like they had been. Other than giving up a couple of long runs, the defense was good enough to win, but it was not to be.

Prestonsburg remains undefeated on the season (unsure of their record). Valley falls to 9-1, with a handful of games left to go.
16-6 Final, Adams stays undefeated 9-0 with one game to play.
