The 12th ranked UK softball team is opening up their season today in California in the Mizuno Invitational. Today they play Santa Clara and Long Beach State in Long Beach, tomorrow they play Loyola Marymount and Oklahoma in Fullerton, and they wrap up their trip on Saturday against George Washington in Long Beach.
Kentucky starts out the season in a big way with a 6-0 win over Santa Clara. Kelsey Nunley threw a no-hitter with 11 K's. Griffin Joiner went 2-2 with 2 HRs and 3 RBIs. SS Christian Stokes was 3-4 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Long Beach State is up next at 2:30 PM.
Kentucky won the second game of the day 10-0 in 5 innings over host Long Beach State. Lauren Cumbess got the win in the circle and the offense pounded out 10 hits.

Kentucky will play Loyola Marymount tomorrow at 1:30 PM and Oklahoma at 6:30 PM.
Kentucky defeated Loyola Marymount 7-1 this afternoon to improve to 3-0. Freshman Megan Prince gave up just 3 hits and 1 earned run in her first collegiate appearance. Griffin Joiner hit a grand slam in the 4th, her 3rd HR of the season.

Kentucky has a big game tonight against Oklahoma, the defending National Champions.
HUGE win for the Cats over defending National Champs Oklahoma 5-4 in 10 innings. Kelsey Nunley picked up the victory in the circle going all 10 innings. Kentucky will play George Washington tomorrow before heading back home.
How about those softball Wildcats! Undefeated with a win over number 2 Oklahoma. C-A-T-S, Cats, Cats,Cats!
