Analysis
Walt Harris is an under appreciated coach. He did a wonderful job at Pitt, and was forced out after winning the Big East. With 10 players on offense returning, I think this team can do some damage…

Trent Edwards was a highly regarded QB coming out of high school and hasn’t done much in all honesty….

Harris had this team rolling in the second half of last year, after losing to UC Davis in September, they almost defeated Notre Dame the last game of the year which would have sent them to a bowl game…

Stanford could be this year UCLA with a few breaks, but I’ll be conservative with them…

Analysis
Oregon St. has been to 5 bowl games since 1999, including a Fiesta Bowl victory in 2000. To put that in perspective, they didn’t have a winning season between 1971-1999.……

Mike Riley is going to have to decide on a QB (I’m not sure there are good options)… Combined, his QB’s threw 23 INT’s compared to 13 TD’s, and turnover ratio probably cost them a bowl appearance….

Yvenson Bernard is the second best RB in the Pac 10, very solid workhorse type that reminds many of Steven Jackson…

Oregon St. could make a bowl if they can hold onto the football.. Easier said than done…

Washington St.

Analysis
I have a sneaky feeling that one of the four Pac 10 teams I have with 5 wins will salvage another victory and make a bowl, and it very well good be Washington St….

It’s going to be critical for them to find a replacement to Jerome Harrison, who was the leading rusher in the NCAA last year, with almost 2000 yards….

The Cougars have really been able to find a niche in the conference, and it started in the early 90’s with Drew Bledsoe every 3 or 4 years they become major contenders…

They were very unlucky last year (the anti-UCLA) and were better than their record. 5 wins maybe too low for this team, but they have their toughest conference games at home, which is a major disadvantage…

Washington
Head Coach: Ty Willingham (67-60-1 overall)

Last season: 2-9 (no bowl)

# of returning starters: 14 (6 offense, 8 defense)

Returning Leaders:
Passing: Isaiah Stanback (143-264, 2136 yards, 9 TD, 2 INT)

Rushing: Louis Rankin (104 att, 510 yards)

Receiving: Sonny Shackelford (41 rec, 592 yards)

Nov. 18 at Washington St. L

2-10 overall (0-8 conference)
4 “swing” games

Analysis
You heard it here first, I don’t think Ty Willingham can coach. He had one solid year at Stanford (the Pac 10 was way down that year), and took that straight into a job at Notre Dame. His career bowl record is 1-4.…. IMO, he’s a glorified Rich Brooks…..

Washington’s problem has been attitude. Under previous coaches, the teams were obviously more upbeat and athletic, this team is lacking in all categories…

The defense is going to have to be proficient for them to steal some games in conference, it’s possible but things will have to fall right…

Washington will probably steal a game or two in conference, but I’m not brave enough to pick any….
