Analysis

This Texas team remind me a lot of last year’s Oklahoma team. Very young on offense, and going without a team leader (they don’t have one QB who attempted a pass last season…)

What Vince Young did for the university is amazing. In all honesty, they should rename the Library for this kid (or atleast a section of the cafetria)….

Mack Brown is a great coach. He was never able to beat Oklahoma on a consistant basis (Stoops is still a better coach), but anyone who can get a team to 10 wins as consistently as Brown is solid…

11 wins may be a little nice in all honesty, I could see them falling as low at 8 wins, but Mack Brown will have them solid again...

10-2 overall (7-1 conference)
4 “swing” games

Analysis
Bob Stoops is the best coach in the country, bar none….

Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the country, bar none….

The defense brings back 9 starters, and at Oklahoma, that’s almost scary…. If you get more than two touchdowns against this team, you should consider yourself lucky…..

The recent dismissal of QB Romar will drop this team from title contention. I had this team playing for the national championship before this happened…

Oklahoma will be better this year based on Peterson’s health and a more experienced defense, but Romar’s absence will cost this team a chance at a national crown…

Texas Tech

Nov. 18 Oklahoma St. W

9-3 overall (5-3 conference)
6 “swing” games

Analysis
Mike Leach has done a fantastic job here, they have been bowl eligible for over a decade, and in his six years they have become an even bigger threat in the Big XII.. How did UK ever let this cat get away????

Graham Harrell is the best QB Texas Tech has ever had… If you thought they were explosive the last couple years, wait till this kid starts slinging the ball around…

They bring back their top 3 WR’s, that’s about as scary as Oklahoma’s returning defense…

Texas Tech could easily beat Texas in Lubbock, but I don’t see them beating Oklahoma. I think they could win 11 games if everything goes right, but I played the conservative card.

Texas AM
Head Coach: Dennis Franchione (91-73 overall)

Nov. 4 Oklahoma L

Nov. 11 Nebraska L

Nov. 24 at Texas L

8-4 overall (4-4 conference)
3 “swing” games

Analysis
I hate Dennis Franchione. He preached team unity at Alabama, led them to a 9-3 record in a year they couldn’t go to a bowl, and then jetted on them. I really hope he never has a winning season again….

With that being said, they loaded up on cupcakes in September and should get off to a good start. I like QB Stephen McGee, and returning 14 starters they should be competitive

If they aren’t bowl eligible by November, they are in trouble. Just look at that those last 3 games…

They’ll go a bowl, but I wouldn’t mind seeing them fall flat on their face….

Oklahoma St.
Head Coach: Mike Gundy (4-7 overall)

Last season: 4-7 (no bowl)

# of returning starters: 14 (9 offense, 5 defense)

Returning Leaders:
Passing: Al Pena (89-179, 1102 yards, 8 TD, 13 INT)

Rushing: Mike Hamilton (193 att, 991 yards)

Receiving: D’Juan Woods (56 rec, 879 yards)

Tackles: Rodrick Johnson (74)

Sacks: Victor Degrate (5)

Interceptions: Calvin Mickens (2)

Nov. 4 at Texas L

Nov. 11 Baylor W

Nov. 18 at Texas Tech L

Nov. 25 Oklahoma L

5-7 overall (2-6 conference)
4 “swing” games

Analysis
Look at the non-conference schedule… It compares to Texas Tech’s last season, it’s a complete joke….

Priority #1 will be to find a QB, they aren’t going to win many games with the jackasses they have in there right now….

Mike Gundy has the makings of a good young coach, and he recruited a nice class….

Oklahoma St. has a soft September, and should start off well, and if they can go undefeated in conference, they’ll probably get enough wins to qualify for a bowl… They remind me a lot of Kansas last season, they’ll have to win with defense…..

Baylor
Head Coach: Guy Morriss (20-37 overall)

Last season: 5-6 (no bowl)

# of returning starters: 12 (8 offense, 4 defense)

Returning Leaders:
Passing: Shawn Bell (190-320, 1964 yards, 12 TD, 6 INT)

Rushing: Paul Mosley (180 att, 679 yards)

Receiving: Dominque Zeigler (48 rec, 563 yards)

Tackles: Marcus Foreman (58)

Sacks: MT Robinson (3)

Interceptions: Anthony Arline (3)

Schedule/Projected W-L Record
Sept. 2 TCU L

Sept. 9 Northwestern St. W

Sept. 16 Washington St. L

Sept. 23 Army W

Sept. 30 Kansas St. W

Oct. 7 at Colorado L

Oct. 14 at Texas L

Oct. 21 Kansas W

Oct. 28 Texas AM L

Nov. 4 at Texas Tech L

Nov. 11 at Oklahoma St. L

Nov. 18 Oklahoma L

4-8 overall (2-6 conference)
5 “swing” games

Analysis
Baylor is going to be better on offense this year, Shawn Bell is a really athletic quarterback, plus they bring back their top 7 rushers and top 2 receivers…

Baylor’s problem is they have an outrageous schedule, year in and year out. The conference gives them no breaks…

Baylor is better than a 4 win team, but I cannot give them more than that…. If they get 6 wins, I wouldn’t be shocked….

Guy Morriss is a solid coach, but he has his hands full year in and year out here….
