Final on Tuesday night, in the semifinals of the county tournament.

The game started out looking like Johns Creek would make a go at it. The Bearcats took the opening possession and drove down to the SV 20 yard line, before the Wildcat defense stiffened up and held on fourth down. They would never threaten to score again the rest of the game.

Valley, on the other hand, had some trouble early on offense, relying on a couple of turnovers to set up 2 short touchdown drives. Another long run before the half would set the 25-0 halftime score. SV moved the ball a lot better in the second half, scoring on a long touchdown drive out of halftime, then completing the scoring with another TD early in the fourth. Valley's subs finished up the rest of the final quarter on defense.

Shelby Valley moves on to the championship game on Saturday. Not 100% sure, but the opponent should be Phelps, who went undefeated in county play this year.

SV had their chance to beat the Hornets a couple weeks ago, as they were already up 1 touchdown, and were driving deep in Phelps territory about to go up by 2 TD's just before halftime. But a fumble at the 10 yard line, immediately followed by a stunning 90 yard run by the Hornets, really took the wind out of Valley's players. Just like that, in the span of two plays and about 20 seconds, a first half that had been clearly controlled by SV ended in a 7-7 tie. Phelps then came out from halftime and outplayed Valley in the second half.

I may be biased here, but here's hoping the little Wildcats can put together a whole game on Saturday and win!
good win
